Cudell's first own-designed automobile engine, introduced at the Stanley Show late in 1901 and technically independent of its continuing De Dion-Bouton license cars. A May 1902 description specifies a vertical water-cooled twin, three-speed gearbox and wood frame reinforced by bridge-girder-shaped steel plates. The adaptable chassis accepted tonneau, double-phaeton, cab, limousine, omnibus and light-transport bodies; a commercial chassis was explicitly displayed in 1902. These coachworks remain configurations of the same 8 HP mechanical family rather than duplicate models. The inclined steering column, shaft and bevel drive marked Cudell's break from the French-derived rear-engine architecture.
