CudellPatentwagen / Voiturette 4½ HP

1901–1902 Germany Veteran passenger automobile or light commercial vehicle 2 production years
Production1901–1902
Recorded originGermany
ClassVeteran passenger automobile or light commercial vehicle
Power4.5 hp

Power-increased continuation of the licensed rear-engine Patentwagen, not the visually different front-engine Populaire that Cudell also sold from 1901. The documented 510 cc single and 4½ hp rating distinguish it mechanically from the earlier 402 cc car even though the tubular chassis, vis-à-vis seating and De Dion-derived layout continued. A specially finished 1901 Cudell voiturette was supplied to Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamid II. Accessible evidence does not preserve a revised wheelbase, body-price ledger or annual output, so dimensions from the 3½ HP are not silently copied into this record.
