First series-produced open Avanti, developed from Blake's earlier project and put into manufacture under Mike Kelly. Its reinforced GM-platform structure and open body make it distinct from the coupe rather than a trim option. Production continued after the move from South Bend to Youngstown before Cafaro concentrated on the four-door sedan.
