The Ribeyrolles-engineered Type C was Darracq's first major commercial success and an early example of repeat production using standardized parts. Roughly sixty were reported in the opening season and more than one thousand in the next, for an often-cited total around 1,200. Runabout and rear-entrance tonneau were bodies on the same vertical-single, three-speed shaft-drive chassis. Some later catalogs extend the type to 1905, but the conservative 1900–01 window follows the documented launch and mass-production surge.
