Production-intended evolution of James Mather's unrelated 1994 Mini Plug experiment. BRA developed the MR3 in 1999 around a bolt-in Rover Metro front subframe carrying engine, transmission, suspension and steering, attached to a spaceframe ending in one Metro rear arm with coil-over. The unmodified 1.0-litre prototype reportedly handled exceptionally well. Three successive GRP contractors failed before completing production moulds, forcing BRA to shelve the model in 2000; the prototype sold in 2001. A secret-specification modified 'high speed' version also emerged from the workshop that year, but neither established series production.
