BRA1800-V8 / 289

BRA's founding model and Britain's first replica moulded directly from an original AC Cobra 289. John Berry and Peter Ibbotson designed a tubular-steel chassis for MGB mechanical components; V8 power became optional in 1982 and the chassis was revised in 1988. The early 1800-V8 designation evolved into 289 without creating a separate chassis family. Beribo built it in Doncaster, Tyler Industrial Mouldings acquired the project in 1996 and sold it as the Tyler 289 until closing in 1999. A duplicate tool set was later adapted for SVA rules and yielded one registered continuation car acquired by BRA Motor Works, whose archived site said it had no immediate production plan. The record therefore ends regular manufacture in 1998 and does not convert later ownership of jigs into continuous production.
