David Wiles and James Mather designed the lower-cost 2CV-based companion to the CX3 during winter 1997 and unveiled it at Stafford in March 1998. Its fabricated body frame bolted to a Citroën or aftermarket 2CV platform and retained the donor's front-mounted flat-twin, transaxle, front drive, steering, brakes and much suspension. One rear arm was radically converted, the other truncated, and BRA offered an interlinking suspension kit; GRP nose/scuttle/rear/cycle wings combined with aluminium bonnet and side panels. BRA production peaked above 30 CX3/CV3 kits monthly and continued through late 2001. Leighton Cars and then Aero Cycle Cars continued licensed manufacture, with accessible histories ending output in 2009.
