The opening Cutting model-year identity. Standard model tables call it Model A-40 and list both tourabout and touring bodies, while the Classic Car Database's 1910 '40 Series' record gives a 117-inch wheelbase, 283.7-cu-in four, 28.9 ALAM-rated horsepower, pump lubrication, centrifugal-pump cooling, cone clutch and a $1,650 five-passenger touring body. The 40 in the marketed designation is an advertised output class, not the ALAM calculated rating. A Detroit Public Library photograph independently identifies a Cutting '40' entered by Clarke-Carter in the 1910 Glidden Tour. Late-1909 commencement claims are retained in marque history but do not create an unevidenced 1909 model row.
