Crypto Car and Cycle Company's best-documented four-wheel automobile. The 1904 Stanley Show chassis used an armoured wood-and-steel frame, an 8 ft 6 in wheelbase and two internal-expanding metal-to-metal brakes; a following issue pictured the complete Crypto with a Cape cart hood. A. Hudden's 1904 hill-climb car supplies the 100 x 120 mm bore and stroke and 1,500 rpm figure, proving a running 8 HP rather than only a component display. Crypto 8 HP cars continued to appear in 1905 and 1906 club events, including one driven by E. E. Bentall, but use of existing cars does not extend their production beyond the regular 1904–05 range.
