Final Crypto automobile development and a mechanically distinct replacement for the earlier higher-powered twin. Crypto showed Dupressoir chassis samples and the new 10 hp Bentall twin in November 1905, then W. G. James and W. Whittall displayed a Dupressoir light chassis fitted with the 8–10 hp engine in April 1906. The Bentall used a case-hardened and ground composite crankshaft, closely placed camshaft, centrally located adjustable low-tension ignition, removable ignition mechanism, padded moving parts and splash lubrication. An October hill-climb photograph explicitly calls James's completed vehicle an 8–10 hp Crypto Car. That final identification justifies 1905–06 while preserving the distinction between a late-1905 component display, the 1906 assembled chassis and proven complete car. Bentall and Dupressoir vehicles sold under their own names remain separate marques.

Research notes

A complete Crypto car is photographically documented in 1906, but the evidence does not establish how many customer or demonstration chassis were completed.
