Bowen9 HP

The complete recoverable Bowen & Co. automobile range was one small 9 hp chassis kept materially unchanged throughout 1906–1908. Drive passed through a cone clutch and selective three-forward/one-reverse gearbox to a live rear axle by propeller shaft. The chassis used a tubular front axle, worm-and-sector steering with spark and throttle levers on the column, wood artillery wheels and 700 x 85 mm tyres; wheelbase was 78 inches and track 48 inches. Bowen claimed 4–30 mph in top gear. The £175 price applied to the standard open two-seater and included oil side and tail lamps plus a tool kit; a light delivery van and other bodies were available on the same chassis. Engine and gearbox castings, body panels and machining were handled at the Phoenix Brass Foundry. This London Bowen is unrelated to J. Bowen & Company's separate 1905–1906 car of the same marque name.
