BriscoeModel 8-38
V8 companion to the 4-38 on the same 114-inch chassis and with the same open body catalog. Briscoe promoted an unusual conversion path under which a customer could buy the four-cylinder car and later substitute the eight-cylinder engine. That interchangeability does not erase the 8-38's distinct marketed model and cylinder-count identity. Electric starting and lighting were available in the 1916 range; exact displacement, engine supplier and transmission ratios remain unverified in accessible summaries.
Dates with their meaning intact
This record contains useful sourced evidence, but it does not yet meet the reference-ready standard. Still needed: attributed imagery. Fields we cannot source stay empty rather than guessed.
Included within Briscoe's 8,149-car 1916 company output; no separate V8 total survives.
