R. Antonin Smekal founded Slatiňanská továrna automobilů R. A. Smekal at Slatiňany in Bohemia in 1912. Rather than create one proprietary model family, the factory used two licensed badges and technical sources. Its Turicum offering corresponded to the Swiss D 8/18 PS, with many imported Turicum components, a 2,011 cc four-cylinder engine and the marque's unusual friction transmission. A separate Mars-licensed open four-seat car used a water-cooled 1,943 cc four producing 16 PS. Only a few automobiles were assembled before the venture ended in 1913, and surviving sources do not allocate output between the two. The catalog therefore groups them beneath a geographically qualified Smekal manufacturer identity while preserving Turicum and Mars in each model name; their production is not silently counted with the Swiss and German parent marques.
