Gignoux

C. Gignoux was a Lyon vehicle manufacturer whose established activity lay in bicycles and motorcycles. The sparse surviving automobile record appears consistently in the principal international marque encyclopedias: in 1907 the firm added a Gignoux-badged passenger automobile, ended car manufacture before that year was over, and completed approximately ten examples. All references identify only one model and only one dependable mechanical fact—a four-cylinder engine. No accessible evidence preserves the proprietor's full name, street address, foundation or closure dates for the broader cycle business, formal automobile type designation, body style, engine maker, bore and stroke, displacement, power, cooling system, ignition, carburettor, gearbox, final drive, suspension, brakes, dimensions, weight, speed, price, chassis numbers, individual owners, competition appearances or export markets. The catalog therefore uses the transparent descriptive identity Four-Cylinder Automobile for the complete 1907 production group. It reports ten as an approximate encyclopedia total rather than converting it into false factory-ledger precision, and it does not manufacture model splits from the unknown bodywork of individual examples. The company's bicycle and motorcycle output establishes its engineering context but remains outside automobile rows. It is also distinct from the later Lyon industrialist and racing driver Marc Gignoux, his DB/Panhard-Gignoux competition coupés, the separate Lara-Bibal & Gignoux name found in regional manufacturer lists, and every unrelated Gignoux surname occurrence.
