A front-engined, naturally aspirated V12 flagship built around one of the most powerful atmospheric engines Ferrari ever made.

The Ferrari 812 Superfast arrived in 2017 as the successor to the F12berlinetta, extending Maranello's long line of front-engined, naturally aspirated V12 grand tourers. Its badge follows Ferrari's traditional shorthand, where the first figure nods to the car's output in metric horsepower and the second to its twelve cylinders, while the Superfast suffix revived a name drawn from the marque's back catalogue.

At the centre of the car is a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 that produces 800 PS, or 789 bhp, and revs to 8900 rpm. Ferrari described it at launch as the most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever fitted to one of its production road cars. Unlike many rivals that had turned to turbocharging, the 812 kept its power atmospheric, drawing its character from throttle response and top-end reach rather than boost.

The engine gives a top speed of more than 211 mph and a 0-100 km/h time of 2.9 seconds, while dry weight is held to 1525 kg. The 812 Superfast was also the first Ferrari to use electric power steering, and it carried over aerodynamic and chassis ideas developed on the earlier F12tdf, including rear-wheel steering. Ferrari later widened the range with the open-top 812 GTS and the track-oriented 812 Competizione, but the Superfast remained the definitive front-engined V12 of its generation.
