ChicagoTimes-Herald Contest Car
Earliest documented automobile of the Chicago Motor Vehicle Company, a carriage-building concern with Chicago offices and a Harvey, Illinois factory. The surviving summaries establish its entry in the 1895 Times-Herald contest but do not preserve a dependable factory type name, specification, result or evidence of customer production. The descriptive row records the vehicle without inventing a model designation and must not be confused with the unrelated Woods electric car.
Dates with their meaning intact
This record contains useful sourced evidence, but it does not yet meet the reference-ready standard. Still needed: attributed imagery. Fields we cannot source stay empty rather than guessed.
At least one Chicago Motor Vehicle Company automobile was entered in the 1895 Chicago Times-Herald contest; no series total survives.
