Engineer Gino Turinelli's earlier SIVE electric-vehicle work evolved into the Ausonia marque at Milan and Sesto San Giovanni in the early 1900s. Initial complete vehicles placed a 5 hp electric motor in each rear wheel, used a four-stage controller and were advertised with 24 km/h maximum speed and 144 km range. Passenger carriages, delivery vans and hotel omnibuses served urban uses. Later engineering adopted front-wheel drive, an unusually early application. Corporate reorganizations followed in 1906 and 1908, and production ended in 1910.
