Full-size modernized continuation inspired by Auburn 851/852 Speedsters, developed from 1966 and introduced in 1968. It used a Ford chassis at the original 127-inch wheelbase, set-back Ford V8, fiberglass body, functional twin-side exhausts and initially substantial new-old-stock Auburn trim. The ACD Club recognizes it as a second-generation Auburn, not an original prewar car.

Research notes

Glenn Pray's factory completed 138 Auburn automobiles across the 866 and 874 programs; approximately 90–100 additional Speedsters were sold in incomplete stages, so no unsupported model-specific finished split is asserted.
