Ashley Laminates entered the British special-building market in 1955 with the Austin Seven-based 750 and a separate Sports Racer shell. Peter Pellandine acquired those early designs for Falcon, while Ashley developed the more widely sold 1172 roadster and hardtop around the common Ford side-valve engine. The restyled Sportiva followed around 1960–1961 in open and closed forms, supported by Ashley's Regent and later Mark VI chassis. These products were chiefly bodies and structural kits rather than mechanically standardized complete cars. Vehicle-shell production ended in 1962; related hardtop and bonnet activity continued later under Ashley Auto Improvements but is not treated as new automobile models.
