FSO began producing the Warszawa M-20 in Warsaw in 1951 as Poland's first postwar mass-produced passenger car, using the Soviet GAZ-M20 Pobeda as its starting point. FSO gradually developed its own sedan, wagon, pickup and ambulance derivatives, including the overhead-valve 223 and 224, and built ten major versions through the end of production in 1973. The catalog keeps Warszawa distinct from the FSO factory, the Soviet Pobeda and later Polish Fiat and Polonez programs.
