Volga was introduced by GAZ in 1956 with the M21 as the successor to the Pobeda. The name became associated with durable mid-size and executive sedans and estates used by private owners, government agencies and taxi fleets across the Soviet Union. Production continued through successive GAZ-24 and 3102-derived families in Russia before the long-running line ended in 2010.
