SMC is a Taiwanese scooter and ATV manufacturer founded on July 1, 1993. Its published company history says the business first focused on high-quality scooters for the European market, developed Taiwan's first big-tire scooter in 1994 and supplied that product to Germany under the Kreidler name. SMC later developed 150/175 cc sports ATVs for the United States under the Skyhawk name, introduced a 250 cc sports ATV in 2002 and a three-in-one CVT/differential/reverse engine in 2003. The SMC identity in this catalog is kept separate from unrelated companies that use the same initials; the source-derived model labels CHP, FORCE, Quadzilla and RAM are treated as market/product badges rather than separate corporate marques.
