Mulliner's roots reach back to a family saddlery and carriage business in the sixteenth century; the name became prominent in 1760 through a Royal Mail carriage contract, and a formal Mulliner coachbuilding company was established in 1870. Mulliner supplied bodies for Bentley chassis from 1923 and became officially part of Bentley in 1959. The catalog records Mulliner as the historic British coachbuilder and current Bentley bespoke division, not as a separate mass-market car marque or as the builder of every Bentley body.
