Mechanical designer Andy Turner founded ACT Engineering at Billingshurst in 1969. In 1994 the firm briefly entered automobile and kit production under the MR Z badge. Its only model re-bodied the Datsun 240Z as a replica of the Ferrari 250 GTO while retaining Nissan-derived structure and inline-six mechanicals. Approximately four examples were completed before production ended in the same year. ACT continued as an automotive workshop and classic-vehicle business, so 1994 marks the complete MR Z manufacturing period rather than the end of the underlying company.
