The Fuso name first appeared in 1932 on Mitsubishi Shipbuilding's B46 bus built at Kobe. It grew into Mitsubishi's principal commercial-vehicle identity for trucks and buses in Japan and export markets. Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation was established as a separate company in 2003 and later became controlled by Daimler Truck while preserving the long-running Fuso marque.
