Leyland Cars was created in 1975 during the state-supported reorganization of British Leyland to manage its passenger-car marques and factories. It encompassed Austin, Morris, Jaguar, Rover and Triumph operations during a period of major industrial restructuring. The entity was replaced by BL Cars in 1978 as the group continued to simplify its organization.
