La Hispano-Suiza, Fábrica de Automóviles, S.A. was founded in Barcelona on 14 June 1904 by Damià Mateu and Francisco Seix with Swiss engineer Marc Birkigt as technical director. The Spanish company became known for sophisticated luxury cars such as the Alfonso XIII, H6 and V12, while also developing aircraft engines and other industrial products. Automobile production in the original Spanish and French Hispano-Suiza operations ended in the late 1930s; the Spanish assets later fed into the postwar ENASA/Pegaso industrial structure. The catalog keeps this historic Catalan manufacturer separate from the modern Hispano Suiza hypercar revival and from French subsidiary operations.
