Husqvarna began as a Swedish royal arms factory at Huskvarna in 1689 and diversified into civilian machinery, bicycles and motorcycles. Motorcycle production started in 1903, making the name one of the oldest continuously recognized motorcycle marques. The motorcycle business later separated from the original industrial company, passed through Cagiva and BMW, and is now associated with Pierer Mobility while retaining its Swedish identity.
