Husaberg was launched in Sweden in 1988 by members of Husqvarna's core development team who remained behind when Husqvarna motorcycle production moved to Italy. The new marque concentrated on lightweight, competition-oriented enduro and motocross motorcycles and later came under KTM ownership. KTM's acquisition of Husqvarna Motorcycles in 2013 reunited the related engineering lineages, after which Husaberg products were folded into the renewed Husqvarna range.
