HSA

Werner Herrler founded Cars & Kit - Herrler at Lauf an der Pegnitz in 1988 and used HSA as the marque for its automobiles. The complete recoverable HSA-manufactured range consists of one family, the Seven. It was a Lotus Seven replica with an aluminium and glass-reinforced-plastic body and a 2,000 cc gasoline engine sourced from the Ford Sierra. The surviving 1991 replica-and-cabriolet catalog lists DM 23,500 for a kit and DM 49,500 for a complete vehicle, demonstrating that Herrler offered both home-build and turnkey forms rather than merely body accessories. No dependable chassis dimensions, engine code, power output, gearbox specification, production count or exact final production date has surfaced. Specialist marque indexing dates the Cars & Kit - Herrler name to 1988–90, so the catalog uses that interval as a disclosed evidence envelope rather than asserting uninterrupted annual construction. Around 1990 Herrler and Klaus Schwarzer also established HSA Automobile GmbH at Neunkirchen am Sand. That company imported replicas, reworked them and obtained TÜV type reports; its commercial-register entry was not deleted until 2007. The registry lifetime does not establish HSA-branded vehicle production through 2007, and unnamed imported replicas are not converted into invented catalog models. HSA is distinct from the original Lotus Seven, Ford Sierra donor cars, replica manufacturers whose products the later company imported, and unrelated businesses using Cars & Kits or HSA. One row therefore accounts for every defensible Herrler-manufactured HSA automobile family.
