Hotzenblitz-Mobile developed a compact electric car in Ibach in the Hotzenwald after engineers began the project in the late 1980s. The company was organized as Hotzenblitz-Mobile GmbH & Co. in 1991, and production versions of the two-seat Hotzenblitz City and Buggy were assembled in Suhl from 1993 to 1996. The company entered insolvency in 1996 before it could establish sustained volume production. The catalog keeps the Hotzenblitz vehicle identity separate from later electric-car revivals and from the Suhl plant's earlier and subsequent businesses.
