Fabryka Samochodów Małolitrażowych, or FSM, was created in Bielsko-Biała in 1971 through Poland's cooperation with Fiat. It inherited production of the Syrena from FSO, building the Syrena 105 and derivatives from 1972 to 1983, and then became best known for the Polski Fiat 126p and later Fiat-licensed small cars. Fiat took control during the early 1990s, with the former FSM sites becoming part of Fiat Auto Poland. The catalog uses FSM for the factory and its Syrena-era identity, while separating the successor Fiat corporate name and the earlier Warsaw FSO production.
