Self-taught mechanic Daniel Renard created ERAD—Études et Réalisations du Douaisis—after a newspaper featured his home-built three-wheeler. Series manufacture began at Aniche in 1978 with the plastic Capucine, whose extensive evolution included front- and rear-drive, gasoline and diesel engines, wheelchair access, convertible and four-seat forms. The rare MG-inspired Midget was followed by Junior, diesel or electric Spacia, and the final Agora. Annual output exceeded 2,600 by 1980; approximately 30,000 ERADs, including 800 electrics, were built before financial misconduct led to a 1997 sale to Savel.
