Electric Vehicles International

Electric Vehicles International (EVI) was a U.S. alternative-energy vehicle company that moved its headquarters and manufacturing operation to Stockton, California in 2009. Company and public-agency records describe EVI as developing and assembling battery-electric and range-extended electric powertrains for medium-duty trucks, walk-in vans, utility vehicles and neighborhood electric vehicles. Its work included MT-45 and MT-55 programs and partnerships with chassis suppliers; EVI was an upfitter and powertrain integrator in some programs rather than the original producer of every Ford, Freightliner or other donor chassis named in the registry. A California Energy Commission report documents a low-volume pilot assembly line and more than 125 electric trucks deployed in California, while period announcements describe Class 4–6 products and hybrid utility trucks. NHTSA labels the make with FCCC MT45, FCCC MT55, Ford F350/F450, Freightliner M2 and LSV entries. The catalog preserves EVI as a distinct electric-vehicle manufacturer and separates donor chassis identities from EVI's powertrain and final-stage work.
