Deepal was established by Changan Automobile in 2022 as a technology-oriented electrified vehicle marque, succeeding the earlier Changan New Energy operation. It launched with the SL03 sedan and expanded through SUVs and overseas markets. Its range includes battery-electric and range-extender powertrains and forms one of Changan's principal new-energy brand families.
