CPI is the brand of CPI Motor Co., founded in Taiwan in 1991. The company initially produced engines for other businesses and began producing complete vehicles in 1995, exporting motorcycles, scooters and ATVs to European and other international markets. Its program expanded through scooter, enduro, supermoto and utility models, with manufacturing and offices in Taiwan, China and Indonesia and technical cooperation with overseas partners. The catalog's CRAB label is retained within that powersports identity, but the source record does not establish a complete model chronology or clarify whether the exact registered form was a scooter, ATV or another CPI vehicle. CPI is kept separate from similarly named financial and industrial companies and from other Taiwanese motorcycle makers such as Sanyang, Kymco and SYM.
