Aichi's wartime aircraft operation was reorganized after 1945 and became Aichi Machine Industry in 1952. After producing three-wheelers under the Giant identity, the company introduced the Cony name on a light three-wheeler in 1959 and quickly expanded it to four-wheel kei trucks, vans and passenger cars. The rear-engined Guppy and Giant Cony 360 led to the more successful Cony 360 and cab-over 360 Wide. Aichi began collaborating with Nissan in 1965, contributing engine and vehicle manufacturing work as Nissan increased its ownership. Intensifying kei-car competition and financial pressure ended Cony production around 1970, after which the plant shifted to Nissan models and the dealer network became Nissan Cherry Store.
