Continental Coachwork

Continental Coachwork Pty Ltd was a Sydney, Australia company led by Mirek Craney that briefly built the Ascort TSV-1300 GT. The 1958–60 car used a modified Volkswagen Beetle chassis, a lightweight fibreglass four-seat coupé body and a tuned rear-mounted flat-four engine with Okrasa and Porsche-related components. Its prestressed body shell and low-volume construction made the Ascort a distinctive Australian specialist vehicle, but production stopped after about 19 cars and the proposed larger-engined version was not developed into a series model. The catalog keeps Continental Coachwork separate from Volkswagen, Karmann Ghia coachwork and later Australian kit-car businesses; the Ascort is recorded as a complete small-series vehicle rather than a Volkswagen derivative or a high-volume domestic marque. The public record does not establish a reliable legal-company founding date apart from the 1958 vehicle program.
