Former Santa Fe Railroad inspector George A. Bryan founded the Peru, Indiana enterprise that became Bryan Steam Motors and Bryan Harvester Corporation. He adapted locomotive superheating to smaller boilers used in tractors, trucks and experimental cars. Between 1918 and 1923 the company completed only six heavy touring automobiles, apparently mostly for officials rather than retail distribution. A sports sedan announced for 1921 never materialized. Bryan then concentrated on tractors and ultimately commercial heating boilers, a business lineage that survives, while the automobile badge ended without a second production model.
