Motoring writer Iain Ayre founded Brookland Motor Company at Kensington in 1993 to build cars and kits. Its sole Swallow was a steel-chassis four-seat small car styled after the 1960s, using many Mini components and an unusual layout with one rear wheel. Only one was completed. In 1994 the company and vehicle badge changed to Ayrespeed, which pursued a completely different Jaguar-based roadster. Brookland therefore receives its own history rather than sharing the later marque's description.
