Dave Andrews and Mark Ross founded Broadbest Limited in Poole, Dorset, in 1987. Its Countach-inspired project followed ideas associated with Venom Cars but used a spaceframe designed by GTD Supercars, Ford Sierra and Scorpio components, Renault 30 transaxle and Ford or Rover V6/V8 power. The factory-completed version was Centaur; the customer kit was Primo, of which about ten were made. Insolvency ended Broadbest in 1988. Chassis supplier Auto Build-up Services then continued production under the ABS badge, so successor cars are not counted as Broadbest output.
