The British Motor Corporation was formed in 1952 when the Austin Motor Company and the Nuffield Organisation merged. It coordinated Austin, Morris, MG, Riley and Wolseley products, developed shared platforms, and later absorbed Jaguar through British Motor Holdings. A further merger with Leyland Motor Corporation in 1968 created British Leyland, ending BMC as a separate company.
