Ken Cook founded Brightwheel Replicas at Christchurch, Dorset, in 1986 with assistance from his son Chris. The company developed the Sheldonhurst-derived Viper Cobra replica into a broad Ford-, Rover- and Jaguar-powered range, including the economical Cortina-based Viper 4. In 1988 it added the tubular-spaceframe CR 6 Countach replica, later renamed Stinger. Roughly 260 Viper-family cars and 25 CR 6/Stingers were produced. Brightwheel closed in 1989; Cobretti continued the Viper while Cook established Classic Replicas, so those successor outputs are not counted as Brightwheels.
