Emile-Henri Bourassa began constructing one-off automobiles in Montreal in 1899, starting with a two-seat runabout and later building a seven-passenger tourer. He also designed two 1914 cars for Ledoux Carriage Company, which are excluded from the Bourassa badge register. His final 1926 Six used a Rickenbacker chassis, Bourassa-built side-valve engine, special manifold, electrically heated carburetor and proprietary transmission, reportedly achieving 31 mpg. Investors declined six years of production proposals and Bourassa dismantled the prototype in 1932. Louis Chevrolet lived with Bourassa for eight months after arriving in Canada.
