Frank A. Bowen, John A. Olson, Frank A. Smith and Franklin Stratton formed the B.O.S.S. Company in 1911, deriving the business and vehicle name from their surnames. Stratton designed the sole model, a 35 hp four-cylinder touring car whose body could be easily converted for delivery duties. Production lasted only during 1911 and amounted to a few vehicles. Sources disagree in wording around the Detroit location, but the company is consistently identified as an American one-year undertaking with no additional type or engine range.
