Adolf Bleichert & Co. was founded at Leipzig in the 1870s and became an internationally important builder of wire ropeways and material-handling systems. Drawing on its electric-drive and transport-engineering experience, the company began converting industrial electric carts into 1.5-ton trucks in 1925 and marketed them as Bleichert Stromwagen. Payload capacity expanded to as much as seven tonnes from 1936. Bleichert also developed a two-seat electric cabriolet in 1935, produced as the EL 800 from 1936 through 1939. The company continued through bankruptcy, wartime and East German successor organizations, but the catalog's marque chronology is limited to the documented prewar road-vehicle program.
