Engineer Hans Christian Bjering designed his first narrow winter automobile in Gjøvik in 1918. The concept concentrated weight over the driven rear wheels, placed its two occupants in tandem and allowed the front wheels to be exchanged for skis so it could follow narrow snow-plough tracks. A/S Autoslæde built four wooden 2,010 cc V4 cars in 1921–1922. Norway's Ministry of Defence then commissioned two substantially revised aluminium motorsleds with rear-mounted rail engines from Raufoss Patronfabrik in 1924–1925. Six post-prototype vehicles were produced, and two survive in Lillehammer collections.
