L. L. Allyn incorporated the Ben-Hur Motor Company in Delaware in 1916 and built its cars at Willoughby, Ohio. Engineer B. P. Bagby designed a conventional but substantial assembled automobile around a 4,966 cc Buda six-cylinder rated at approximately 60 hp, rear-wheel drive and a three-speed gearbox. The 126-inch chassis supported four-seat cloverleaf roadster, five- or seven-passenger touring and seven-passenger sedan bodies, priced from $1,875 to $2,750. Although the factory was said to have capacity for twenty cars daily, body shortages held plans to five or ten weekly; only about thirty to forty cars reached dealers by February 1918. Capital expansion failed and receivership followed in May.
