The Belmont Electric Automobile Company was organized at Wyandotte, Michigan, in 1915 and announced production under president J. H. Bishop in early 1916. Its three-part range comprised a $985 delivery car, a $1,400 four-passenger car and a $1,600 six-passenger limousine, all claiming up to 75 miles per charge. A notable $150 option placed charging equipment directly on the vehicle, reducing dependence on garage installations. Plans called for fewer than 250 first-year cars, but period evidence and later encyclopedias indicate that only a few were actually completed before operations ceased later in 1916. The marque is qualified as Belmont Electric to distinguish it from unrelated gasoline Belmont companies.
