Microcar enthusiast Alan Evans founded Bamby Cars Limited in March 1982 and began production in 1983, seeking a modern equivalent to his Peel P50. The tiny fiberglass three-wheeler weighed 107 kg, seated one and used 49–50 cc Minarelli, Suzuki or Yamaha moped power driving the single rear wheel. Early cars carried one headlamp and a gullwing-style side door, while later builds gained two lamps and a front-hinged door. Its price proved too high for the intended young-driver and urban market; approximately fifty were completed before creditors intervened in 1985.
